The Northside Jazz Band – Formed in 1972, the Northside Jazz Band is based in Watford, Hertfordshire, where they still have a weekly residency. The current line-up includes Mike Brewerton on double bass, Ron Oldham on drums, both of whom joined in the early days; the rhythm section is completed by Robin Moseley on banjo. In the front line on reeds for the past 10 years is a true professional, Ronnie Findon, and joining the band in 2001 Mike Holt on trombone, and Denny Illet on trumpet-cornet, both experienced and entertaining players. Over the years they have been invited to play at many festival’s both at home and abroad. The Band has been featured in the past on both Radio and Television and with a number of recordings behind them, they present a varied blend of jazz and blues, ranging from Louis Armstrong, through Duke Ellington – Bix Beiderbecke – Fats Waller and others. Appreciated by their audiences everywhere, they remain as popular as ever.
