Band Info
Dick Cook – Clarinet. Dick started playing clarinet with the Devotees Jazz Band in Nottingham in 1960. In 1966 he emigrated to America and became a member of the world-famous Olympia Brass Band of New Orleans. In that city Dick had numerous opportunities to play on Bourbon Street and in Preservation Hall with many of the “old time” musicians. On his return from New Orleans he joined the New Iberia Stompers. Since 1968 he has toured extensively in Europe and England, appearing with many American musicians, including Alvin Alcorn and Albert Nicholas. He has been a member of the Excelsior Brass Band, the Intercities Jazz Band and Chris Barber’s Parade Band. He was the leader of the London Ragtime Orchestra and has run his Jambalaya for many years.
