Band Info
Simon Wyld – Trombone. Simon grew up to the soundtrack of his dad’s jazz record collection, so it was hardly surprising that he formed a jazz band, the High Society Syncopators, whilst still a teenager studying music at Goldsmith’s, London and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. On moving to Hampshire Simon joined the Red Garter Jazz band where he met David Jones who invited him to join first the Vo-de-o-do Orchestra and then the David Jones Dixieland Band. As a member of the Mike Ellis Jazz and Swing Band Simon has had the opportunity to play with Kenny Ball, Terry Lightfoot and two of his British trombone heroes, Roy Williams and Campbell Burnap. Other highlights of his career have been playing for the Pope and with Norman Wisdom.
