Andy Flaxman – Trombone - Since leaving the Army in 1997, where he served as the Principal Trombonist of the Band of HM Coldstream Guards, Andy has worked extensively with the Syd Lawrence Orchestra, The Glenn Miller Orchestra (UK) and the Len Phillips Big Band. He is now the lead trombonist in Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra, performing regular dates in the Frith Street Club and other engagements worldwide. He also leads the section in Paul Lacey’s ‘Back to Basie’ Orchestra and the superb ‘Bone Supremacy’ all trombone jazz group (ala ‘Five a Slide’) which is a must see/hear at least once in your life!! Recordings with the Pete Long’s ‘Echoes of Ellington’ and Benny Goodman Band along with many other ‘session’ recordings have ensured a regular presence in studios as well as on the gig circuit. On the Jazz scene, as well as many past engagements with the late John Softley, he has performed with many jazz greats including Acker Bilk, Kenny Ball, Terry Lightfoot and Humphrey Lyttleton. When Peter Rudeforth asked him to join his new band the answer was never in doubt. Peter is a renowned musician in many fields and “he is always a pleasure to work with” He is currently working as a freelance trombonist based in London. Among numerous other dates, engagements in many West End shows such as ‘Sinatra’ at the London Palladium, ‘Guys and Dolls’ at the Piccadilly Theatre and ‘Anything Goes’ at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, to name but a few, lead to a busy diary.
